thanks for the link... the programs he uses looks a lot like some that i already have that came with my pc... but are called different... i am reding it now though and i will check to see.... thanks

lol....from reading i think that they are different... but the guide you sent me is for the avi's... i was just wondering cuz it said divx to dvd on the top but its ok...

-DIVX is a type of codec. You need a "codec" to read an avi file.
-An avi file is a type of compressed video file.
-A mpeg file is a video file that can be compressed somewhat, but you cant compress it that much without sacrificing video quality.

Those are extremely simplified definitions of divx, avi, and mpeg.
