Well, if they're salaried, and they get everything done on time while meeting any and all project expectations, I don't see why not?

But, if this 11% attendance rate is preventing the job from being completed correctly, then they should get axed.

Well even salaried employees have an acceptable time off limit..at least every salry contract I have ever signed had it written in it.

Yah... very true. And thus this time limit would prevent them from completing their contract properly and they should get axed

But if they're doing 11% of their work in the office and the other 89% completing all necessary work elsewhere, then power to them.

But 11% is awfully low... And the only reason I defend it is because someone I know is a HW engineer that spends most of his time working from home because he can use his personal reference library and can work when he's most productive. That and journalist are the only two jobs where I can see such segues from the office as acceptable. But if you're responsible for people below you, then that's BS and you're depriving the company of leadership resources, and thus should be axed.

Axed... I  that word

Very nicely put and I agree and can see how an 11% record could be acceptable in that situation.

What if this person were needed to make very dire decisions as well as for consulting and the people who consult him were most often at this persons office?

No its all expected part of the line of questioning to be honest. It sparks questions and lines of reason which gives more insight into the possibilities that could be.

based on information given and what you would expect to have happen to a person with this kind of record...how hard is that really?
