yea...oakland has its VERY nice parts tucked up in the hills. and even in the worst oakland ghetto is still rather tempting when compared to the ghettos of detroit, dc, atlanta... i have a coworker that have been in all of those ghettos, and she says that oakland's "ghetto" is pretty nice, or in her words "very lush with trees."

did I say Oakland specifically? no I didn't. I make fairly regular trips to Cali every year and I see its progression into its current state of being. I go to many different areas of the state and I see it happening all over.

Like I said i was cali raised for about 16 years and it aint the worst but it is far from the best.

And while we are at it I don't think tis should be an argument over whos ghetto is worse because general living in the state is the main reason I won't live there ever again. The fukk if I am gonna pay 300k+ for some ramble shack in a fair neighborhood. In some parts of the state thats not even gonna get you that much.

Pretty much everyone thinks that way as they get older though. "Oh, things aren't as good as they were in the good old days..." I know I've fallen victim to that kind of thinking at times but I try to catch myself. Aging towns are not exclusive to California.

Which states do you feel are the best?

[edit]Typo: "Aging towns are not exclusive to California." h:

Well actually my list has shifted to looking at countrys I would rather live in instead of states to live in. My next major move will not be within the US.

Fair enough. I won't dispute the fact that there are some other countries that seem very appealing. However, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence... :happysad:
