Default anybody use autotrader?

I listed my grandfathers buick for him on autotrader.... ive gotten a few responses but for some reason, they all ask me what is the minimum i will take for the car ... i tell them i am asking 4000 obo and nobody ever counter offers, they just say okay, im gonna send you $7000, $9000, $10000 and tell me to send the difference back. when i ask why they dont just send me the $4000, they never respond....
its also kinda weird how they are willing to send money without ever coming to look at the car, they are relying on the pictures i sent them to make a judgement.... sorry but no way i ever send somebody 4000 buck without ever seen the car, let alone, 7000, 9000, or 10000

its pretty shady.... plus they all have strange names... my dad said it sounds like they might be tryin to launder money through me

anybody else ever list on autotrader? i'd like to think that there might be a reliable person out there ... id rather have somebody lowball me and say yeah id like to come look at the car, or send somebody to look at it or at least offer to send me the right amount!

Any time someone contacts you offering to pay a whole bunch more and then you give back the difference to some other entity is a scam.

That said, I put my '92 GSR on autotrader back when I had to sell it and got a ton of responses even after the car sold. Granted it was a slightly more desirable car to the internet crowd than some grandpa Buick, but it still got a lot of attention.
