Well, as Mike mentioned above, it's clear someone was trying to launder money through you. Very shady to say teh least. Avoid.

But as a counterpoint to all of this, I actually found my DC4 locally via the AutoTrader.com listings. h:
The seller was upfront, the records were complete, the car performed beautifully and checked out fine. Negotiation was swift and easy. No hassles whatsoever.

So... I wouldn't write off the site altogether. Just be wary of the people you do business with.

They aren't actually trying to launder money. They are counting on you sending them the difference before the bank tells you their check bounced and you're out the entire amount plus the car. Anyway... avoid.

I sold my car on Autotrader too and yes you can remove your ad. I don't really get why some people leave them up or leave them up and just change the text to "sold!". :dunno:

i have my civic on autotrader too... only been a few days though got one call so far - legit too. i read about what people are doing to you... it is a scam for sure. most online classified places have a fraud awareness article so you don't get scammed by people trying to steal your car

ill have to look for that article, maybe if they have a place to notify, ill throw these morons to the wolves and send their email addresses and names to Autotrader....

i kinda wish this was a civic or integra or something with a larger appeal than a 94 Buick Roadmaster - but i do think it has an LT1 that should be appealing :naughty:
