Sure they do, it's just harder to find, you have to sift through all the mainstream crap.

Ever listen to People Under the Stairs? Mos Def is somewhat mainstream but I'm really enjoying his music, along w/Talib Kweli.

Check out Roots Manuva... Another good MC I found was What What, who you can find on The Herbaliser's "The Blend". Top notch track.

Default Mos Def rocks...so does Talib Kweli

Mos Def has his own style, I digged his work in the High & Mighty's B-Boy Document. Planet Asia, Fresno native, has dope @$$ material as well. Sometimes I play records from back in the day and notice how things have changed. There are stuff out there, original material, that are what the true essence of hiphop is. Ever heard of Supernatural? That guy is mad ill, saw him rhyme at the Martini Ranch a few months back. He's a freestyle rhyming machine.

it also doesn't help that these crappy "artists" recruit their even worse buddies, produce their albums, and people actually buy it and convince themselves that it's good just because the new "artist" is associated with the already famous "artist".

it doesn't even sound like music anymore. just a bunch of random beats and clips thrown in with off-key lyrics that have absolutely no meaning. it's garbage. i wish idiots would wisen up and stop buying that shit.
