Default :madfawk: My computer sucks!!`1`~1!

I try to play CS and about 5 minuts in my speakers make an odd little humming noise and the system shuts off. Probably something overheating, but I don't know what. I can only afford to cool one thing down right now. My cpu temp seems sort of high, but not dangerously. So I think it may be that. I want to get this thermalright heatsink and a decent little fan for it, but agh... the shipping time.

Anyway... would anything other than the CPU be the cause of these unwanted shutdowns?

I was thinking it was the card's fault. Not sure if I can cool it more. Last time I looked there were just heatsinks for it with no fans.

I'm running:
AMD Athlon XP 2500+
Asus A7N8X-Deluxe MB
Geforce4 mx440 64mb DDR
256mb DDR400
and a bunch of fans.

I checked my voltages, they're all within specified parameters, the only thing out of place was my cpu heat.

MB temp: 33C/91F
CPU temp: 63C/145F

It usually stays below 55, that's why I'm thinking that's the problem.

man that is really hot. 145f will kill your proc. Definately processor that's shuttin you down. How many fans you got? You got them facing the right direction? Should be like a car, intake on front, exhaust on back.

you sure your processor fan is working? I would pull it out, re-grease it, and try again.

I was just about to shut it down and make sure it's still working, yeah.

One of my intake fans was being blocked. filter's full of dust

Anyway, I'm shutting down for a few.

my old athlon 1700 ran hot ALL THE TIME. like 139-145f consistenly. I even put a volcano 7 on it, still same problem. Turned out to be the mobo. Got a new board, never had the problem.

cpu fan is working, it's just being a bitch and not doing its damn job

I guess I'll go back to fry's fromorrow and look into a new cooler. If that doesn't work... well... I may not be posting as much. temps are going back up as I type this.

It was 53C when I started and it's up to 56 right now. Maybe I'm overclocking and never knew it :dunno:
