From my experience, it depends on the girl's personality. A lot of girls are turned off when you're too open w/ your feelings because you come across as being needy and obsessive. I've had relationships w/ a couple particularly shy girls though who opened up to me only after I put myself out there 1st.

I told my g/f about my insecurities. She helps a lot of the time by saying things to try and boost my confidence. Other times she'll patronize me, though and it pisses me off.
