i dont understand the whole cludding thing...why cant they use guns, rifles..like we do to control the deer population around here. why walk up to the poor thing and beat it to death instead of shooting one shot and killing it instantly?
that is seriously, my biggest arguement. why beat it and skin them alive?

Now heres the deal, I could pop it with a round from a gun but the problem is I am getting $50 (US) for the pelt and with a hole in it the price drops, Not to mention the bullet costs me money as well.
So as I cut into my profit margin meaning I have less money to provide for my family what would you do in that case?

sigh, again a shot from a gun can damage the pelt unless you do it at close range or snipe it.
I doubt they always club them

Not to mention the firing of a weapon would cause the other seals to start moving away from where they are possibly towards water where I cannot reach them.
The club is used because it is the logical choice of weapons for this job. They use rifles as well but probably in very limited amounts and even then it doesn't guarantee the animal is dead when I sell them to the furriers

as much of a joke and funny as it is. my point was that yes, maybe the seal population is rapidly growing, the economy is struggling, and people need to be fed, something should to be done. be it with a rifle, gun, or something that would be instant, that by all means outweights the brutal skinning alive or daggeronendofbat methods.
