how do rotors get glazed?

my rotor was turned once before. about 30k miles ago.

Then you need new ones.

And actually you shave them off in increments of .001 of a inch. 2 mm is way too much.

sprinkles were neccessary with the old style donuts in order to relieve excess gas and bloating. Nowadays I think donut blanks are your best bet for morning pastry performance.

Just break them in right and you should be good, rotor 'glaze' is actually a very severe form of brake fade. Happens when you don't break them in correctly and you jam on the brakes to a complete stop or something extreme, the heat actually causes the resin to break down then reform (to a hard slick surface) and this doesn't grip well, thus brake fade will happen more.

would this have anything to do with a rotor not being turned correctly? or just a turned rotor, period?

the rotor is no longer as "thick" as it used to be, and it cant dissipate heat as well. if i'm not mistaken, excessive heat leads to glazed rotors.

:thinking: Not sure what you mean?

This usually occurs when you don't bed in the rotors/pads...

i meant, will having turned rotors, or improperly turned rotors increase the chances of glazed rotors. :thinking:

im just trying to find out why my rotors glazed in the first place.
