i unplugged the fans on the tower and brought an 8" mini fan and put it directly to the side of the computer with the panel off. i just shrunk a dvd and it didnt shut off :bigok:

i tried to shrink it earlier twice before with the computer shutting off but this time it worked just fine. so it was overheating :wtf:

my computer has been shutting itself off for a while now -- with no warning, it just shuts off and immediately restarts itself.

could this also be an overheating problem? i never even considered that..

Over heating or a timer virus. My bet is over heating Chris, if you have any probes check what your temps are at. Mine used to do that until I added a better cpu fan.

Yes, overheating it is! Definitely try to add more fans to your case... and maybe clean off dust on existing ones.

Probably overheating. As stated, check to make sure the vents aren't clogged, and all fans are ok.
