Ur thoughts on Haiti Situation?
Well I've been trying to keep on on this, and did some erading a lil while back before this mess on Haiti and also Randall Robinson. It seem that haiti president left and there are rumors taht he was abducted by US troops and took to Africa. Now wether it is true or not i dont know, but i wouldnt doubt it, the us hates haiti. THe reason the people wanted to remove the president was that from what i've read, since he took the presidency, he made promises that he couldnt keep becasue of US and other nations' embargos. And Also the world bank did not give loans to Haiti to fix streets, for education, and for clean water. Its interesting to see how the US quickly supports the overthrowing of a democracy who elected its president. your thoughts on this issue?
The US wanted that President to stay in office.
The US has always backed any democratic president or leader in those area's. We've always thought it to be in our, and their, best interest; and we do now.
The reason we asked him to leave though, is because the situation was growing so violent because of his mere-leadership, due to the people's distaste for him, that we thought it would be better to have him leave the country and the people put another democratic leader of choice in office.
Frankly, right now, we don't know what will happen or who will come into power; but what we did know was that leaving him in office (even if we support him) was detremental to the stability of the country.
The US should not intervene in Haiti. The UN should send PeaceKeepers, which will include US servicemen and that's fine; but only for the purpose of upholding law while a new Government is started. The US should however, send in Marines to protect it's assets in the region, which it is doing now.

Also does that mean that though bush is our president, if things get too rought here he will leave and let another president be put in place? hrm...that doesnt seem right to me.
Jean-Bertrand Aristide was the first democratically elected president of Haiti back '90 and was then overthrown by the military in '91. The military carried out mass murders of Aristide supporters until we went down there in '94, kicked them out of power, and reinstalled Aristide.
The reason people have been pissed off at him is because it is widely believed that he rigged the last election in 2000. Various international aid organizations then cut off funding as a result.
The people leading the rebels are in fact former military officers who overthrew Aristide the last time around. I'm not so sure I believe their talk of a democratically elected government given result the last time they overthrew him. However for the time being the head of the Haitian supreme court is now in charge of the country because that is how the line of succession goes if the president steps down. It'll be interesting to see if the rebels will let this guy run the place or if they want to get rid of him too.
As for Aristide possibly being kidnapped, that troubles me. I think it's two sides putting very different spins on the same events. The Bushie war hawks are saying they "took steps to protect Mr. Aristide and his family so they would not be harmed as they departed Haiti," one of Aristide's contacts here in the US said the marines told him "had to go now — that if he didn't go he would be killed and a lot of Haitians would be killed." Aristide has said that he was kidnapped at gunpoint and forced to leave. By making a composite of these accounts, it would seem that Aristide was indeed encouraged to leave the country by our military however I don't know if kidnapping is in fact the right term.

We should stay out of it all together.

yea thats what i ment, maybe i worded it wrong, but i do not agree with the US and french involvement, they should have never been troops there, UN troops yes but not US and french solely.
Other countries don't necessarily have the troops to spare or the capability to get them there real quick. Besides, we're only sending a detatchment of like a couple thousand Marines.
I could apply this question to one other particularly thorny situation in one particular country somewhere east of here, but nah...
