piece of sh*t netgear router..help :(
Try resetting the router(unplug and replug the power) Also, if your settings are messed up in the router(ie only allows four people to connect) and four are already on, it won't let a fifth on until you go into the router settings and change them.

Besides I like the reliable speed and no loss of signal errors I get on a solid line as opposed to wireless.....signal degradation and conflicting signal is a bitch sometimes.

Did you go into the router configurations and see if it somehow got set to only allow certain computers to connect? If it did, you'd have to enter each computer's MAC address. If it isn't set up like this, it should be, unless you want any random person with a wireless card to use your connection.
Also, you could check to see if there are any firmware updates.
Oh, and as for Linksys, they don't have a terrific track record either, especially since Cisco bought them. A lot of people seem to get disconnected pretty often on both wired and wireless Linksys routers. I think that Linksys, Netgear, and other home router manufacturers need to seriously improve their quality assurance departments.

i had a linkshit router in my place, and i thought it was garbage. i needed to reset it often, and connections would time out often. i dont think it was user error, because the SMC Barricade and US Robotics routers i've also owned worked flawlessly.
thanks to everyone for your help. much appreciated!
