Yeah, I forgot to express that in my original post. It does suck, and I certainly wouldn't say that the plates for the whole family is fair per se, but if it works...

I dunno...the really important thing, like NorCal DC4 pointed out, is not so much the severity of the punishment, but the certainty of being punished swiftly, regardless of social class, etc.
