Digi-cam.......help/advice/opinions please.
I'm not really familiar with the specific interface of the P10 but since the Mavica is so huge there's more space for buttons so maybe mine is easier to navigate. I thought you were talking about the on-screen menu interface, which I like a lot.

nice size, great pictures, and movies with sound. Look at www.nextag.com or www.cnet.com for the best prices. I got mine for around 375:thumbup:

I don't really buy anything consumer electronics related on financing so I can't really comment on that.
For the money you're looking at, I would say the best options are the Canon SD100, Canon A70, Nikon Coolpix 3100, Sony P72, Pentax Optio S and Minolta Dimage Xt.
The Dimage Xt, Optio S and SD100 are all pocket sized, with the Dimage Xt being the smallest and the SD100 the bigges. They're all pretty tiny though. All have similar features as far as manual controls and such go, which is to say kind of basic.
The Nikon is a little bigger than the pocket cameras and has a few more features but its video mode can't record sound. Honestly though I haven't really used the video mode on my camera (mine can record sound) hardly ever.
The Sony and Canon A70 are a bit chunkier. The P72 has about the same features as the Nikon, the A70 has a lot more.
So--if you want a pocket camera then any of the choices would be cool, a not-so-big one I would get the 3100 and for the most features I'd get the A70.

another note, i always find that when i am taking pics, my hand posture is important. but of course you are talking about point and shoot cameras, in which this concern isnt very much so. but i HATE holding the canon s series camera. they dont mold to your hand for shat. the canon a70 does a pretty decent job of doing that. the nikon 3100 is a little small to exactly mold into your hand. but its not as bad as holding a camera that is shaped like a pack of cigs.

I'm a big guy with big hands, and I need a camera that I dont feel like I'm going to break every time I press a button. The elf feels waaaay too small in my hands.
I have an Elph S200, an older version of the SD100. It's kind of heavy for its size since almost the whole thing is metal. Any of the pocket cameras are going to be too small to actually have a good hand grip. I picked it mainly for snap shots and I really appreciate the small size. I don't use it for taking artsy stuff but it can take quality pics if necessary. Still, the big reason to go with a mini camera is if you plan on sticking it in your pocket and taking mostly snap shots.
A problem that all pocket cameras have is that since the lens is so close to the flash it's kind of hard to avoid red eye. If you really care about it then it takes 30 seconds to get rid of red eye in photoshop.
So cliff's notes on recommendations are as follows.
Minolta Dimage Xt - the smallest of all of em, good features, ok pics
Canon PowerShot SD100 - a little chunkier than the Xt but still pocket size, takes better pics with a couple less gimmicks
Nikon CoolPix 3100 - Small, not pocket size, makes it easier to hold but can't really fit in a pocket unless it's a bigass cargo pocket. About same features and image quality as the SD100
Canon PowerShot A70 - pretty good sized camera but also the most features and adjustments by far, and takes the best pics
BTW this is how I hold my Elph when I'm sober. When I'm out and about it's easy enough to grab it with one hand and take snap shots.
