<-- 11 year snowboarder...

good snowboard companies: forum (the best IMO), M3, burton, GNU, jeenyus, option, palmer
bindings: flow (my personal fave), drake, forum
boots: forum, 32, dc
outerwear: special blend, 4square
goggles: arnette, spy, oakely

my setup:

GNU Barret Christy 144 (womens pro board, yes, because mens pro boards were too big when i was lookin to buy a new deck) h:
Flow FL_11 bindings
Forum Team boots (burton socks h: )
special blend jacket
ride pants
burton gloves

(see pic below)

what makes a snowboard good? the internal construction is important, as well as the side cap.. some companies cut corners by using cheaper materials and a less durable construction, resulting in a lesser quality ride.. another important thing is the base material. sintered > extruded.

bindings, the materials and quality of the closure systems are what makes them good/bad. a good binding will have a lot of either light weight metals or composites. a lot of new bindings have carbon fiber in em.

if you dont know much about buying a snowboard i'd go to a local shop and talk to someone about it. it's their job to help find you the best board for you
