another snowboard thread......
i only wear goggles if its actually snowing, cause the snow hitting your eye while flyin down the hill really hurts. goggles can also keep your face warmer, cause they cover a lot more of your face than just the eyes. if its sunny, i just wear glasses. if its snowing and sunny.... i wear the tinted goggles
h:
uhh... gloves, get actual snow gloves, not like those knit cotton POS, they get soaked and snow gets stuck in them...
like you said, when you rent, you get the boots, board and bindings, so you wont have to worry about that...
and i agree with bringing some tennis shoes or somethin to wear after you are done boarding... they are soooo comfortable, best thing ever.

I'm going snowboarding on the 9th of January. Me and a bunch of my coworkers are signing up for a Day Trip thru a local shop. We pay $80 and it covers everything but rentals. The place that we are going to is SnowShoe Mountain in West Virginia so it's about 6 hours away. We leave at around midnight and arrive in the morning. Snowboard all day till 7pm and get back on the bus and head back. I'm new to snowboarding also and just bought a Burton Fusion board off of ebay. I'm buying some Flow bindings locally and maybe picking up some boots.
Will have you ever tried ski blades?? they are the little ski's and they are soo much fun. Ive been playing hockey all my life, so i adapted to those really easily too. But I had a friend come with me who was gonna try boarding, but i convinced her to try the ski blades.... she had it down in about an hour.....They are a lot more fun...Trust me!!
im going to boreal this friday and i was just at sierra last saturday :eek3:
if this is your first time evaRRR i suggest one helpful thing i learned. when you fall, dont fall with your hands open (like doing a pushup) instead fall and make a fist to punch the ground or you might break your wrist or make them very sore afterwards. or you can fall on your elbows :exnbp:
ive only gone twice and the first time i went it was a complete faliure on the slopes, the second time i went (last saturday) i learned how to stay standing and do left turns. this friday i hope to be able to turn right and maybe work in lefts too so i can carve an "S" shape going down the slope
you also might want to invest in a camel pack (its a water bag you wear as a backpack with a long straw) cause you get really thristy up there.
