sooooo pathetic
Ok other thread got locked again.... yawn.
So basically, if I make a personal comment to someone who HAPPENS to be an admin, and then I get warned, THAT makes it the business of the board, and in the public domain.
Administrators need to hold themselves to a higher standard than regular users because they are representatives of the board.
It is just as easy for THEM to take things to PM as it is for a regular poster, and due to their position it is actually their onus to do so.
Stifiling criticism of the "ruling class" is fascism, and is in direct contradiction of the concepts of checks and balances that make any co-operative community possible. If one administrator was out of line (not so in my case), the other administrators could only do something based on public feedback.
It's my personal opinion that the mods are using their administrative powers for personal reasons.
"Disrespect towards a mod" is a PERSOANL issue, and should NOT be made a HAN issue by leveraging their board status.
If someone is told NOT to do something that is hindering the board, and disobey's THAT is insubordination.
And making sure things happen behind "closed doors" by locking threads and insisting things be taken to PM, is bullshit, everyone on the board has the rights to know what the moderators are doing. Again, this is a collaborative community and public opinion is the litmus test whether or not an action is justifiable or not.

Phiz-I partially agree w/you; there are some mods like that, some who get off thinking they are the $hit b/c they moderate an online web forum...But then again, there are some cool ass mod's, one in particular being RenieLude (formerly PreludeChick), who do their job, who are fair, friendly, and who maintain constant integrity.
THE DAY WE LOSE THE RIGHT TO STATE AN OPINION WILL BE A SAD, SAD DAY...
PHiZ, I really have no clue what you are trying to accomplish here. The fact that you got warned is over and done with. I asked you to resort to PM because we do not need this type of stuff on the board. It just causes flamming and nonsense. You are mentioning Administrators being involved, care to elaborate on that?

You want this in the open? Sure. I'll give it a go.
You had a problem with a moderator. Instead of resolving this misunderstanding through other means, you resorted to publically air this in the basement. This is unnecessary.
I asked that every member try to resolve problems such as these privately since those threads will resort to nothing more than finger pointing and flaming every time. Yes, that's EVERY TIME. So what good will come out of this? Nothing. Every member deserves to know? Know what? That you had a problem with a moderator? What good does that do? Again, nothing. The fact is that you had a problem. You decided to call out a moderator instead of taking the matter to a Super Moderator or Admin. Your thread was locked and you were warned just as everyone else would. Plain and simple.
Please don't go there with the term fascism. Ruling class? Now you're comparing apples with oranges. I'll be as "bottom-line" as I can here. This is NOT a democracy. So yeah, there is imbalance. However, the moderators were picked by the admins and other moderators to keep the forums on topic and prevent any problems between members. With that said, the moderators and admins are human. I am sure you are well aware that sometimes things can be distorted and taken the wrong way. That is why we ask that each member to resolve problems such as these with the moderators or administrators since it could just be a misunderstanding. You're not fighting a war or rebelling against a ruling class. There's no need to air your laundry. What do you think you're going to do? Gather support for your cause and overthrow the board? Common now. That's just silly. You just have to trust that the administrators are fair. They will listen to your case and resolve the matter appropriately. And let's say if they don't...and that's a big if....would you want to continue to post at a web site where the moderators and admins are unfair and continue to warn you for no good reason? I would certainly hope not.
HAN did not become such a large message board with that many registered members because we have asshats for moderators and admins.
I am sorry if this doesn't sound nice and sweet laced with candy. I am just telling you straight out that this is how things work here.
