Default so your syncros are worn out...

sorry for ignorance, but what does this mean? is there something inside your tranny called the "syncros"? i know what they do, but i dont really know where they are located. are they generally expensive to replace.

the synchros are what matches teh revs between the tranny and the engine while the two are seperated they tend to spin at different rates and thus your sychnros rematch them up for you , they are generally not that bad price, but they are a bitch to replace thus expensive to have someone else do

Synchros are....ummmmm......a gear in the tranny...not sure how many there are but it synchronizes the speed of the engine to the speed of the transmission during shifting.

thats my understanding at least.

you have to take teh tranny apart, which does require you to unbolt the tranny, each gear has it's own synchro too, 2nd gear synchros tend to go first, due to hard shifting or just it's the gear that gets shifted into the most

when your synchro goes out, that'll be the only way to get into gear, i drove a civic not that long ago that had a no 3rd gear synchro, and i can tell you i was glad to get it back to it's owner double clutching everytime is annoying

ahhhh, cool cool. never knew each gear had a syncro. i thought it was kinda weird that going into 5th is easy as hell but all other gears are hard. damn this sucks
