if your connecting from XP to XP you can just simply use the remote desktop feature. it's quite nice.

Now.. I have two computers on my home network.. my mothers laptop. (XP) and my computer (2000) Mine is connected to the router via wireless. So.. would it be best to log onto hers... or mine? Or ... it doesn't really matter... and it's either or?

True you can use that if you are on XP, and if you are not on XP and if you can install programs on your computer then you can install remote desktop client for windows. It will save you all the web configuration
