Default You live with your significant other?

If so, how do you guys handle your finances?

I live with mine and it's like this:

I have a checking and savings acct, she can't get a checkings, has a savings but the branch is on the other side of town. My checks are direct deposited to my acct, she signs her checks over to me. We tally up how much we have, budget for bills, and spend the balance on whatever. This is fine most of the time. But there are times when it's not cool at all. I wanna hear about your issues w/money and how you handle it to hopefully give me an idea as to how we can implement some things to make this less of an issue.

but seriously, most of my friends believe that the best way is to have a separate acct for each, and put half towards rent, bills, etc. and wait till yer married to have a joint acct. at least thats what i would do:dunno:

Worth a thought, but she's gonna have to realize that if we do it like this, ain't gonna be no blowing all your money and then turning to me to give you more. She blows money like you wouldn't believe, well, I guess most women do.

We guys spend a lot on cars too. :happysad:

I lived with a gf for a month and it was a horrible experience. It's like having a second shadow. I found out I like my personal space and lots of it.

We lived together for 2½ years before we got married, and we've been married for 7 months now. Our financial structure hasn't changed at all: we both have separate accounts, and share expenses (he pays for one thing, I pay for another, etc.). I imagine we'll combine accounts soon, I'm not sure why we haven't done it yet. I guess I'm exhausted from the process of changing my name.. a real pain in the arse.
