Actually 0.7 now. http://www.mozilla.org/products/firebird/

Are you saying that IE has been around for less than a year? I don't think I'm reading that right. IE has been around for quite a few years. Considering that Firebird has been avliable for less than 1 year is almost as good as IE, is pretty impressive.

No, I was saying Mozilla was the orignal web browser back when the web was first started. They created html if I remember correctly (and I probably don't, but whatever). It later became netscape and microsoft released IE for free and basicaly put netscape out of business. Rather than just completely give up, Netscape released the source code for it's new brower (mozilla) and it's an open source project now. You said how long has firebird been around compared to IE and I was just stating that mozilla has been around longer than anybody.

Yes, Mozilla has been around for quite a while. Firebird isn't based on Mozilla though. Either way they are doing a great job of it.

I thought the first web browser was Mosaic, after doing a little research I found that it was about the 3rd GUI web browser.

1990, "WorldWideWeb" is the FIRST GUI webbrowser... later renamed to Nexus.

:dunno: Learned something new.

I love Firebird, I haven't had many issues other than the webpage thing, but that is cause the person who made the site didn't code it right, it is not Mozilla's fault if they suck at doing the html.

I'll give Firebird another change when it's finished.
the only reason pages seem to load better in IE is because IE is so prominent that people design their pages for IE only. they disregard every other browser for every other platform. even if you look at IE for windows and IE for mac, the pages will load differently. designing webpages in this way is just ignorant.

AND microsoft isn't displaying the webpages correctly either. there are a number of things they included that are not part of the HTML or other language standards, and their support for various languages is incomplete (like CSS).
