Default Desktop Computer

Been looking into a new PC, but I just can't put together the cash to build the one I want. So I am trying to find a best "bang for your buck" out of the box desktop PC. How is HP these days? I see them touted all over Woot and QVC.. decent specs, and affordable. The laptop I'm on is a Lenovo v570 and I am pretty happy with that, but I'm always cool with better. It's a 2.30GHz i5, with 6 gigs of ram.

Any suggestions?

Not really looking to do much gaming on it. Internet, iTunes, Office, and light Photoshop use and maybe light video editing in the near future.

if that's all you're going to do with it, i5 and 6GB RAM should be plenty, anything better is bonus, of course.
what's your budget?

Looking at 6-$700 tops. Found a decent Lenovo desktop.

One of my friends is trying to get me to buy a mac mini.

I stalked Lenovo's clearance center for my mom's laptop. For $253 ...

16in display
Core i5 (2nd Gen)
250gb HDD
4gb ram
back lit keys
dvd-rw drive

The inventory is always changing, so just keep your eyes on it .

you can definitely find a more than adequate desktop at that price. I'm sure any popular brand should be fine. HP, Dell, Lenovo...whatevs. you can even build one for that price, but sometimes those manufacturers have great deals on prebuilt ones you just can't beat on your own for a budget PC

if you have any know-how ... build it yourself. Here's a great deal on an extremely powerful processor.

Try to fit that into any configuration from HP, Dell, or Apple and you'll see what happens to the price.
