HELP: matching door color to rest of the body
well i had a problem when i bought my car where the doors were different color silvers...i tried to repaint the doors but it still showed a different color shade even if its the exact color code...i was told to blend it with the fender and the rear quarter panels but wanted to see how it would turn out if i just repainted the doors...why does it still come out as different colors shades anyways?? im now planning to repaint the whole fender and quarter panels on both sides...will this fix my problem or will it end up showing a noticeable different color shade of silver now on the hood or bumper or somethin?? thanks
I was told that no matter how well the paint is mixed, that it might not match the original color. This holds especially true if it's the original paint on the car as over the years, the paint has already faded.
I guess you could either just live with having a two tone silver car, or paint the whole car.

dont paint the entire fender and panels, do you know how to blend? good rule of thumb is just to paint about 6-12inches from the newer paint so sand a part of the fender and panel... and put a light coat untill it looks somewhat blended... after its dried wait for a sunny day and check to see if it all turned out well.... its hard to explain for me, but do not paint the entire fender and panel tkae it to a shop they'll know how to blend it
well im thinking bout just painting the rest of the car then...since i guess theres little chip marks from rocks and stuff...and just to make sure...since i just got my doors painted only, and i wait bout 2 or 3 months to get the rest of the car repainted, will the doors that i just painted fade in color in anyway if i wait 2 or 3 months to get the rest of the car painted?? or do i have to paint the doors two again...juss wonderin...

Even home depot tells you, "If you're gonna paint the walls, buy all the paint you need all at once." That's because they mix the paint you need to color match the walls. It's pretty much the same thing for automotive paint.

Not really. But like what was said before, when the paint is getting mixed to get your color, it's not the same everytime. So it might not match perfectly.

what he said... do it all at once. its the paint on the doors have already been there for a bit, open to the sun, dust, etc... the paint color/shade will be affected. so save up and do it ALL at once.
