why chrome wheels so popular????
I don't see what you guys have against chrome wheels.
1. they don't rust
2. they don't scratch easily (less so than painted and definitely polished)
3. they are easy to clean, since it's a tougher finish
4. they aren't THAT heavy
5. no maintenance other than cleaning (polished needs CONSTANT care)
6. shinier finish than polished
IMO, if you like the look, they're ideal. I think a lot of silver painted wheels are just bland. It's what every other car on the road has.
I've had painted, polished, and chrome, and I hope I NEVER have polished wheels again. Chrome or painted? Depends on the look.

I think one of the reasons why chrome wheels have gotten such a bad rep is the style of wheels manufacturers have decided to chrome. Take a look at a lot of the chrome wheels on the market and you have to admit the styling of these wheels are pretty hideous. Would you buy the same exact style wheel if it was just painted silver?
What does chroming have to do with weight of the rims? You can chrome aluminum as well. If they are chromed correctly they will hold up VERY well. chrome rims look good as stated if they arn't cheaply designed and whatnot, But there are many other types of rims that look very good and are just as popular.

chrome looks nice when you pull it off right. taste is hard to define correctly.
