Default Painting valve cover need help.

Ok I'm going to be sand blasting and repainting my fiancees 93lx valve cover. The damn thing is so nasty I can't stand it!! So here I come with a few questions.

#1. I know it will have to be a high temp paint of some type, any favorites?
#2. Other than the initial sandblasting, is there anything else I should do to prep the surface?
#3. What is the best way to protect the high lettering from paint? Tape, Vasoline? What would you use?

Thanks for the help, I'll post pics as I go.

sand and i put vasoline on the letters. Then sprayed with TONS of light coats. then take a cloth and wipe off the vasoline and if needed take a dremel to the letters to shine them up

Sandblast will be good, you wont need to sand it or anything after you blast it. after that, yeah, go ahead with the vasoline like customz said on the letters, if you want them to stay aluminum colored, and then go ahead and paint the cover. i have used a bunch in the past on my buddies cars. the BEST, i would have to say is the crinkle black and red. they end up looking the best(IMO) in the end, and look pretty OEM.

my buddy got the black crinckle paint for BBQ's and stuff (said BBQ's on the spray bottle) and sprayed it on his car a little less than a year ago, and it hasnt chipped or anything, so you can use that too ( i recomend it the most out of the rest). we go that paint at NAPA

yea i just did my valve cover the other day, cleaned it up with some engine degreaser and then rinsed it, and dryed it. I used chap stick on the lettering, and then used a razor to scrape off at the end. oh yea i used engine paint i found at autozone
