Default need help with rear lip install

I bought a Type R rear lip for my 97 civic ex. When test fitting it I noticed that the cut out for the exhaust rests on my exhaust. The exhaust is a 5zigin fireball, and it is angled so the right side of the exhaust touches the lip. How should I fix this? Is it ok to let the muffler and lip touch (it is ABS plastic by the way) or will it melt/burn the plastic or the paint. Any advice would be helpful, and a pic of similar set up would also be great, thanks.

It will more than likely melt the lip. You could possibly have an exhaust shop extend the hangers on the exhaust.
