Depends which Maacos. My sister had her 84 Dodge 600 converteble painted by them a few years ago and the paint job is still in great condition. And they have to have a clear coat on them. You would be able to tell if they didn't. The clear coat makes the car shiney and prettyful. What I've heard from some people is their paint jobs orange peel. Thats from not sanding the clear coat off of the original paint or doing a horrible job at the preperation. Like I said, my sisters paint job on her car looks beautiful. A nice metallic red.

 

Orange Peel is not from incorrect preporation. Orange Peel is about how the paint is applied. A painter can reduce orange peel by "slicking out" the clear, which means thicker coats...but the bad part about Slicking out the clear is that it's more prone to run. If you want to get rid of orange peel...Wet Sand the car with 1500 grit sandpaper, then 2000 grit...then buff and polish.

 

sometimes it is. but if its real bad you can make them re-do it (runs, tons of orange peel etc...). Would you want the whole car glossy and then your sideskirts not be as glossy as the car? I would clear it.
