Default Best grit for shine!

I did a search and came up with mixed answers. I have a 95 tegra and the passanger lights look bad due to fading. What sand paper will I need to shine it up again? Also My driverside light looks bad as well but it's not faded just brown. Like rust. I wanna know how to remove it without messing anything up. Thanks guys and girls!

1500 grit sand paper, some say to use 2000, but 1500 will give it a nice shine.
Just be very sure that the friction of the sand paper is done on a very wet surface, have a sponge in hand to douse the area you are sanding. You could also use a free flowing hose with no real force behind it.

honura-- if your lights are yellowing, dab some acetone on a cloth and it will clear them right up. but you may have to resort to sanding

civic coupe--320 grit should work fine for what you need.

Yeah there yellowing but in the inside of the light. I bought the car with that problem. I might have to open it up and clean it out. I was just wondering if someone had a quick DIY for opening them up.

And the other one is just faded on the top. So I wanted to shine it up a bit.

If your headlight is sealed you need to use heat gun to melt the sealant compound. I've seen 1 guy from different board opened his civic sealed headlight to do Angel Eyes by put in the oven with temp. around 400 F for few minutes to melt the sealant. It sound crazy but it worked for him to do cheap mod!

320 grit by hand is too coarse....320 on a DA Sander is fine. Go to a Auto Paint Supply Store and ask for a red or possibly a gray Scotch Brite pad...wet sand with one of those and it'll be plenty sanded.
