I love this sort of comment, usually comes from someone that either has never driven the car or hasn't spent any real time behind the wheel. It has plenty of torque compared to 85% of cars on the road with you at any given time. No you can't spend a WHOLE lot of time in Vtec if you want to minimize tickets, the end of 2nd gear will have you pulling past 60mph.

As far as it being a daily driver, it's a fine daily driver! People generally either can't handle this car for what it is AND is not or love it for all of those qualities. Would you believe that the trunk is big enough to hold a bag with all my wife's necessary items for a whole 3 day weekend + my abbreviated cleaning kit (for cleaning the car after we got there, can't have her dirty ALL weekend ) + my portable DVD player + I have my tool kit still in it's stock spot, and still had room to keep the boot with us so I could use it on the highway and stow it when the top was up!

I possess a 2001 Honda S2000 Silverstone Metallic and recently purchased an '02 Acura RSX Type S. This is a question I have been wondering about. I can't afford both vehicles, so I am selling one. Originally, I just assumed that I would have to sell the S2000, because rear-wheel drive, clearance, etc. But maybe I can keep the S2000 (as long as I keep it covered during the winter). I live in the Midwest. Do you think it can handle the regular amount of snow we get in the winter? Any comments or inquiries would be much appreciated.

 

i think if u want to keep teh cars u need to think abuot how ua re going to use them. i dont think i would purchase a s2000 as a daily driver because i need more room. i haul stuff and ppl a lot. i would probly keep the rsx just cause its a car that is more everyday oriented

 

i hate this car, by the time you hit vtec you're already breaking the speed limit! i wish it was slower.

 

You should be ok as long as you put snow tires on. Your best bet, if you decide to keep the s2000, would probably be to spend $500 from the sale of the RSX to buy an extra set of wheels to put snow tires on. You figure by the time you pay $150/season to switch between the snows and regular tires, you'll pay for them in a few years anyway.

 

If you live in a cold winter weather climate, you should already know how to adjust to winter driving practices. Having a manual at your disposal, even without traction control, is a definite plus. You shouldn't have problems so long as you use winter tires, and if the weather is bad, always keep the car undergeared so it can't rev freely, and you should be o.k.
