Default spoiler install, XM radio

Got some questions for you S2k owners out there...

First off, I'm looking to buy a new '04 s2k in the next couple weeks. I have a '03 Acura CL which I love but I'm selling it to a friend. ANyways here are my questions about the s2k

1) What does it mean when the specs on the honda website mean that the s2k is 'XM ready'? I am seriously thinking about putting XM in the car but will I have to do any work to get it in or do I just have to buy an adapter cable, some XM accessories, and then pop the receiver in?

2) I really sweat the trunk spoiler. I also want to know if I can buy it cheaper if I get it online and install it myself. I guess I need to know if its hard to do. I've done work on cars before, nothing major, just sealing coil packs and installing sound systems.

Thanks guys!!!

Apparently the '04 is "XM Ready" by virtue of a $400+ option from your dealer. Personally I say take it stock and go spend that $400 on an upgraded head unit w/ XM reciever, and either a pair of SPods or Rear Speakers mounted in the panels behind the seat.

The 04's available speakers for the headrest are (if Im not mistaken) about a $250 upgrade and from all reports WAAYY not worth it. If you haven't figured it out by now the S's stereo comes only using the front channels, you can very easily add speakers behind you that will more than fill the cabin w/ sound.

For the Wing (if you MUST have that gaudy thing) check out Hardtopguy he works for a dealership called Ganley Honda and is usually the cheapest source for stock Honda items.

Good luck with your new toy

Go with XM. You'll love it. My parents got it on their new TL and I just had to get it in my teg. Does anyone know where they put the bubble antenna? I'm assuming it goes on the trunk. If the bubble is on the trunk, I would throw out the spoiler to avoid a "busy" look.

Great! Thanks for the input. I actually went to the dealership in Fairfax, VA yesterday. Of course the dealers were sweating trying to get me to buy it but I had to hold out. I was looking for the silverstone metallic w/ the black/red interior. They didnt have one onsite so after I walked out saying I wouldnt buy it today, they called me later that evening and said they just drove to another dealership to do an exchange and that they have the car at Fairfax.

The only bad part is this...not sure if I'm getting the greatest deal on the s2k. They started off by telling me that 33,900$ is the market value...where I proceeded to tell them that their offer was insane...and that I would take nothing that high. We agreed on MSRP (32,800) plus tax/tags plus shipping, and a free trunk lip spoiler w/ installation. But I'm not convinced that this is a good deal just yet. THere are only about 2 dealers out of 6-7 that have the color that I want but I can wait I guess. What do you guys think about the price?

Tell them no way in hell, that numbers about $2k too high.

First print out this ad, same guy I mentioned earlier about the wing: $30,995 brand new, Ganley Honda

Then do you a search on www.s2ki.com. The S2k market has dropped significantly in the last year or so, where MSRP used to be a great deal many of us (myself included) have paid only a few hundred bucks over INVOICE (was $29,700 last summer when I bought my '03) all over the country. Do you some homework and bring in some printed out proof and they should at least match Ganley's $31k figure.

Good Luck, Travis

I think its too high-even with my limited knowledge. That other Honda website quotes offers around $31K in their "dealership network."

Well, I got it. (But I'm picking it up on saturday!). I went in with an offer that I found at a local dealership that was having a special...So I ended up paying $30,100 plus freight ($400) and processing ($299). I was happy enough with this because it was the only silverstone metallic in the DC/MD/VA area with the red/black interior. (well there was one more in richmond, but someone had put a deposit on the car yesterday afternoon so the dealer couldnt do a DX with them). Didnt get the spoiler, or XM for that matter. I'll be doing that aftermarket in a couple weeks! Cant wait till tomorrow!!

Congrats!!!! You did good . The combo interior is SWEET, I was sold on it when I first started drooling over the S at it's introduction, by the time I was able to buy mine ('03) it was all red and I just couln't take it.

There are better looking spoilers than that stock one, check them out before you put money down.
