im looking to buy an RSX type S in a few weeks..going to get teh 2004 model..anybody heard any changes on the tranny ? let me know guys..thanks.

i really like the car and i just hope all the hassle is worth it...i mean..i had a old integra..and it grinded and didn't sound as bad and as often as all these people here on the boards are saying..and i have 120k miles on my tranny. I posted on another thread saying that..i wonder if changing the tranny fluid will help the prob..i dont think it will cure it ..but just a thought. Cuz i know on my integra..i changed from honda tranny fluid to a fully synthetic tranny fluid...the shifting felt a lot smoother..so..i dont know..u guys are RSX owners..so i trust u guys..thanks guys..i want to stay with my honda pride.and get the RSX..im also looking into like a Celica GTS 6 speed or a VW golf GTi 20th anniversary..

Actually I heard the RSX is one of the most tunable cars out there now. Some company called Hytech had a naturally aspirated K20-powered RSX putting out 300+ horsepower at the wheels. Also take a look at CarandDriver.com and see their supertuner challenege article from last month's issue. There was like 4 RSX Type S models, and they all got great reviews and had a lot of power.

yeah..i saw them...but i was worried about the gears grinding from what i see from others. I know warranty will cover it..but i heard in some cases, taking it back once or twice still doesn't fix the prob..but then of course..the technician didn't actually fix the problem...so...u know..im in a debate..this is the most favorite car out of all 3...

the grinding thing doesn't happen to everyone, and the dealer where i bought the car from change the whole tranny for free, not me but other people, i do sometimes experience some grinding, but it's really not a big deal, and it rarely happens, so i didn't bother eventho it's free to fix.

Hey nein, just becuase you have an RSX i can understand why you defend it so much. They are not as tunable as the old b series engines and they have had tons of service bulletins, I know this because I work on them for a living. So you see I do have an idea what these cars are like. They flat out suck. It's a pile. If you chose to buy it good for you then. I was just stating my opinion. I can list ten better cars for the money easy.

i wasn't defending because i have one. i m only stating facts, if you really know honda cars then you should know that K20 engine is more tunable than the B series. look at the K20 engine, within a year after its first release, reflash ecu program already up and running well adding so much hp that B series just can't simply have. turbo kits, high power cams, race ecu... all developed so quickly and taken into a variety of races around the world. now look at the B series, they've been out for so long it's obvious that you shouldn't even be comparing the tuning options between these two. but lets see now, the max tuned B18 can barely keep up with current max tuned K20. K20 just have better design in every section, it's no suprise that K20 should respond better, plus the new ecu is much easier to approach than the previous one, larger area to explore and tuning potential than the B series ecu. you should really start reading some honda stuff cus i think you are pretty outdated.

u may have seen a lot of problems on the rsx in your dealer, I won't say all the problems are driver oriented, but 95% of the time it is. i don't see recall on rsx, the service bulletin every car has, the 2nd gear grinding or the subwoofer was not any major problem. and you gotta understand this car is not a economy car, and it wasn't market as one. so you will see a lot of young and inexperienced drivers messing up what might have been their first new car, that doesn't say the car sux, do you know how many celica GTS engine blown in the first year when it is released? if you know cars, then you should know toyota has very reliable engine, even with the sports cars. so are you gonna say celica sux because toyota dealer received many blown engine? my opinion is that, anyone who treat their car well, know how to drive well, then their car should be fine and reliable.

one last thing, do you know what are the qualities of rsx-s? how can they be flat out suck if so many people choose to buy them, and they have been on many magzine's top 10 for long time, so are you saying all the ppl suck?

when you someday can recognize the DC5's quality, then sir you are improved.
