Why are you guys so quick to dismiss the RSX Base model?

yes i would agree with the base model as the car for you to buy
the S is fun and all but for a couple more grand
BTW there is a big difference in base/type S
drive both and then you'll feel what i mean
i have driven both base at/MT and 6spd type s and the AT is very slow, much more spritly is the MT base but a big pull in the S

Yeah, again, I'm a teacher, so any investment in a car will be for the long haul. So it's okay to deduce that I won't be doing anything with the track or racing with my car. If I had all the money in the world and gave two shits about racing cars, then I'd have ten cars, race some of them, and not care if I crashed one of them.

If I wanna see a race, I'll watch my boys race their cars, or go to raceway park upstate; or listen to you guys talk about it. Thanks for all of the advice though, and for answering my question. I'm gonna get the base model in black, and add a spoiler and euro lights in the front and back. I'll tint the wondows with a normal black tint and get a Clifford car alarm (since you all recommend that model so much). I already have a Club and an Autolock. $15G and I should be just fine.

I'd suggest test driving it again, and getting a good feel for it in a variety of situations. Take it on the highway, drive it on a winding road. Nail it from a stoplight. Get familiar with it. If you still like it buy it; and forget what others say.

Although the K20A3 won't gain as much, I'd still recommend a bolton or two. Plus, you'll be more popular with your students. Laugh. Although, you'll still have one that'll come up straight from shop class saying "My Z28 is ready, let's go race prof!"

Most people that say auto sucks and manual is great need to drive a manual in bumper to bumper city traffic for a while. I have a manual and I absolutely hate the thing on most days because I am always going clutch in 1st, clutch in 2nd, stop, clutch in 1st and repeat forever. I've yet to leave 2nd gear in just my regular driving and have only experienced the beauty of the other gears on my drive home.

Given your situation a base model is a better idea and is a better investment of your money. If we all wanted torque and power we would not be buying a Honda. I wanted reliability and a lower price tag when I got my Honda.

Good luck with your purchase and welcome to HAN.

Hell, I would take either.

But if I had a choice it would be S, for the reasons already listed (skirts, exhaust, blah blah)
