Buffing, Waxing help!
My mirrors are horrible... the paint Honda uses is dull and fades. My mirrors are faded... any tips on maybe buffing it out? Or is it the clear coat honda uses that fades the paint out... ill use any chemical at any price... i really dont want to get a new paint job... thanks for any help!
Well I would definatly start by doing a clay bar on the whole car.... just becareful.... it can take off paint if done too hard.
Could then try some Meguires precleaner-wax all over.... then some Meguires Gold Class wax.
That's assuming that it's not faded paint and just something covering it like a film or something... if it's actually faded paint.... other than a repaint... I know nothing that will repair that.

You really have to stay on top of Honda paint because it's the one thing that IMHO Honda is terrible at. Both of my old 80s Honda's paint job went to hell.
If you want it to stay nice, wax at least every 90 days, AT least. Keep the car washed too. I wish I had a garage to put my car but alas I don't. I use a sunshade in the car when I'm not driving it and I need to get the windows tinted to protect the interior a bit too.

Mothers makes a good bar. Around $17 for the clay bar and the lube (quick detailer). It will get the paint smooth, but won't do anything for scratches or luster. It's a good step though if your paint isn't as smooth as glass.
Clay Magic is also good. Walmart may even carry it in your area. I highly suggest a polymer-based sealer wax to a carnuba. properautocare.com has a few (Klasse is good, not the easiest to use, Blackfire is easy to use and good). If you want to go locally, Meguires sells one. I think it's #20. I forget. Klasse and Blackfire come with a polish I believe, the Meguires you would have to use one of their polishes after clay baring before you apply it. polymer's last a lot longer. Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the help guys im stopping down at my local Auto Zone to grab some supplies... :goodjob: Yea i was considering picking up a pair of mirrors... ill check it out... thanks to everyone!
I have the same problem on my 96 Lude. To me it looks like the full clear coat came off and i dont think buffing it or waxing it will fix my mirrors. I will just wait until my whole car is ready to be painted (after body kit, and fixing the little imperfections) and then ill get my mirrors painted with the whole car. Also finding a pair of mirrors in good condition will be hard. I have a 96 the last year they made the 4th gen. and my mirrors are also messed up. I would suggest going to the nearest paint shop and ask them. They will just paint the mirrors and clear coat them and they will look pretty damn close i think. It shouldn't cost that much, i dont think.
Nah im not just gonna get the mirrors painted if im gonna get stuff painted i mind as well get it all painted... but the mirrors dont look that bad with a nice coat of wax... thanks for all the help guys.
