Default Newbie Help: Trans Oil Question

Hey Guys,
just got a manual 99 lude with 64xxx miles..love the car!
the previous owner's been using MOBIL 1 synt which is a good thing but I know for a fact that the transmission oil hasn't been changed yet. my concern is, is that too high of a miles to change the trans oil now; I heard that it is not recommended to change the trans oil on a car that has high mileage that still has the original oil...will I be okay if I changed the trans oil now?

im thinkin of going syntehtic, what do u guys use for trans oil?
brand? weigth? how many quarts?

thanks in advance
Andy

You shouldn't have any problems with changing the trans fluid. I only use Honda MTF and have NEVER had a problem with the trans while using it. Some people have used Redline MTF but with mixed reviews....I'd stikc with Honda for the fluid.
