Default ignition retard in hot weather

just got back from Florida where my car felt like it had only 160 hp...because it did!

Here in CT. my 98 pulls like a train. I know Hondas have this awful safeguard protecting against detonation but do other makes have it? Is there any way around it? My old Nissan SR20 didn't cut power in the summer....

How do you southern guys ever win a drag race?

Hmmm..... my 2000 never felt any different in the summer last year. And it was a bruttal one. Many days above 90 with high humidity. And my Prelude felt the same as it does on a cool dry day.

it's due to the intake air temperature sensor, plus the hotter intake air reduces air density, reducing overall power.

but ALL other cars down here get affected in the same way, so it makes it an even race
