Default Help with tire removal!

I just bought a 5th gen SH 2 weeks ago, and i decided that its time for a tire rotation, so i set out with a friend to do so. Rotating tires is supposed to be a no-brainer, but it turns out that theres something funky with mine.

I belive that the stock tires are still on my 97 SH (Potenza RE92 or something), and the previous owner hasnt cared enough to rotate them or something, because when i took off all the nuts, the rim would not detatch from the rotor. I tried using all of my weight to pull it off the tire wouldnt budge, is there something i'm missing? Is there a special lock on the stock SH rims or something? I'm very close to using WD40 in hopes that its just rust. I only tried the driver's side wheels, and both of them are stuck solid. Thanks a lot!

I would not hesitate in trying the WD-40.... just wipe off the rotors if you happen to get any on there. Take the first couple of breaking stops slow and long.

Brother had a similar problem on his Jeep.... he let the WD-40 soak for about 30 mins... then soak it with more for another 30 mins and then they slid off nicely. Good luck!!

My accord had some problem like that always on the right front wheel. I just hit it a few times with a rubber mallet and it came off. Then i had to get an alignment though. Try the WD-40

Yeah the weather is another factor since your car just had the same winter mine did. The wheel is very tight on the hub as it it is so you might need to give it a little whack from the back, I'd use a rubber mallet.

Exactly 2 days after the mechanic had the tire off (to show me i didn't need brakes, but the CV boot was ripped), I am trying to get the tire off. Of course it was overtightened & the devil of a time getting it unbolted Same deal with the tire though. I pulled & pulled but it remains on the car. I came here in hopes of a solution & will try the hammer thing, but 2 days after it was off?

Instead of saving $$ by putting the CV boot in myself, I'm going to need to use it for a manicure & massage :gorgeous:

BTW I'm so happy I found this forum - thank you for all your help!

pretty old thread (check the date) but i figured this one out... just took a couple of kicks... kick the lower portion of the tire, then the top and alternate... it'll free up...

For future reference, if this happens to you, sit on the ground and kick the rim on the lower portion hard. The wheel will pop right off.
