well one obvious reason: luxury

perfect blend of speed and luxury.
preludes are an AWESOME car after some mods. once you get the suspension redone and add some engine mods, you'll be in LOVE.

i was inyour same situation. prelude, 2000 civic SI, or civic HB with b18c.. and i chose my lude

i'd love to elaborate, but i'm at school and i'm going HOME. i'll get back to this post.. GL

Not to start another fight... but if your going for any kind of uniqueness.... stay away from Civics. Everyones got one.

"Oh here comes a car... oh just another civic" I don't see many preludes around. I don't care to be a bandwaggoner(sp) or a crow pleaser... I like my Prelude for that reason too... you don't see one every 5 feet.

If you really really like them, go for it. It's your decision, it's still a Honda so it's a good car. Personally, I don't want to be seen as "just another civic".

I have the 4th gen prelude (1996), it's sweet. I prefer 4th to 5th... but the 5th's are still pretty nice. It's eaiser to find parts and mods for the 5th gen's which will come in handy if anything ever goes wrong or you want to mod it. If your one that wants to be a little unique... you'll get the prelude... if you want to follow others and "fit it" you'll get a civic. IMO.

I love my prelude.

Preludes are refined, well balanced, and feel luxurious, even with cloth seats. There's plenty of leg room in front, but you can forget the back seats for anything but grocerys. Since Preludes had low production (average 14,000 per year 1997-2001), you'll be very unique. I have one of 3 known crystal blue metallic Preludes in northeast Ohio -- not just Cleveland, but all the surrounding counties. And one of my friends has the only 2001 Agean Blue in northeast Ohio. She has the sport shift, though. I would obviously recomend the Prelude. I know I'm biased, but a Civic hatchback compared to a Prelude is like comparing hamburger to filet mignon.

I am so inclined to agree if you want something a little unique get the lude. I absolutly am totaly ate up with my lude, i just love it, it's most enjoyable car i have ever had, only thing that comes close for me is my jeep (can't burry the lude to the bottems of the doors in mud and expect to get out of it or out in to a river to wash it off) but i wouldn't want to take turns in the jeep like i do the Lude either. but thats just me

I'm not sure if a Civic hatch has a hydraulic clutch or not, but I can tell you if you've never driven a car with a hydraulic clutch, you should. The difference is night and day. Smooth, consistant take up, and you never have to adjust anything. The clutch on up-scale Hondas and Acuras give great feedback and make it a blast to shift quick and keep the RPM's up when you're in VTEC. That's another thing, you don't get VTEC on the Civic!

Plenty of leg room upfront... I'm 6'1". Works fine for me.

but a Civic hatchback compared to a Prelude is like comparing hamburger to filet mignon.
 Good comparison!! Civic's are a dime a dozen. They are nice... but too common for my likeing.

It seems that most of the replies/suggestions to buying a Prelude, Civic or HB are superficial. Hardly any of them are functional or mature in their rationale.

Is anyone able to give xjdmb16a2six any reasons to buy one of the three that have nothing to do with personal opinions on looks or "style". Is the reliability better with one of them? What about handling (without any mods)? Expensive when it comes to repairs/parts/labor time...even if you do it yourself?

Come on people...help the guy out. He can formulate his own opinions on the color or tyre size.
