01 Prelude on Autotrader

Can I get some feedback on this Lude?

Looks clean, well maintained, DFH (very important); low milage; wheels are probably heavy though; at least they are quality wheels.

TIA

:nono: Mods, contrary to popular belief, decrease the value of the car more than no mods at all. If this car had not a single mod done to it, I'd say that's a fair price. But with those mods, I'd offer 19,000, buy the car, remove the mods, restore it to factory specs (hopefully he has all the origional parts), and sell it then for 21,000. He says that price is firm, but either he will sell that to a poor sap who buys on emotion or he will have to lower his price. Again, mods take away from a cars value.

Yeah, I know about mods and thier relationship to selling price; I have quite a few on my current vehicle. BUT, the mods he has, I am going to do (I/E wheels & tires, springs), so its kind of saves me same time and expense of procurement and install.

Heck, I could sell the mods off myself for a pretty penny.

Well, if you are doing those mods yourself, then perhaps it will be worth it to you. I'm sure someone like you is the target customer he is looking for to begin with. Because someone who just wants a nice, low mileage white Prelude 5 speed certainly will not want all the mods. And alot of people cringe when they see a heavily modified car. You know, their first thoughts are of the previous owner beating the bejesus out of it.

True, true, but anyone that claims to be stock might have tracked the friggin car and have been heavily modified and ragged it out as well, so going my mods, or lack thereof, I can't lend much weight to. I might was well find a low mileage, great shape one that already has the items I'm looking for. At least, that's my theory.

i put mods on my car too, and so do lots of my friends, so i know how we beat on our cars. a 01 SH with low mile is probably still good, but do you really want one that's been driven hard?? no need to ask the seller because you know he beats on it. i mean, i see good condition preludes on ebay or autotrader all the time, why not pick up a safer one. :dunno:
Again, I agree with the concept, but when you say, ...i see good condition preludes on ebay or autotrader all the time..., how do you really know?

I'm still shopping, for sure; actually looking at a Black 01 /22k mi // list is 18.5k this weekend at a dealer. I'm stoked.

Buying from scratch I generally is a better idea. Thanks for the help guys!

Good story. I hear ya. I've already scrapped the whitey. Black is one of my first choices anyway.
