Default Si VS. Vtec? Help me out here!

Alright... I have wanted a LUDE for a long time.. last 2 cars have been 92 integras.. But I decided a while ago, my long term car will be a lude..
Anyways, I have learned a fair bit about integras.. dont know alot about preludes though, and was hoping some for info, maybe even resources.

For my teg, the best resource(besides these forums) was www.g2ic.com. It was pretty comprehensive, and I was happy with all the info it had.. does the prelude have a site similar in caliber?

And I see that the lude(92-96) has three models.. S/Si/Vtec... S is out of the question... But what are the drawbacks of Si vs. Vtec? Can vtec head be added to a non vtec block like the b-series integra motors? How much should I end up paying overall for a 94-96ish prelude? and does any specific year have better features(like the 90-91 teg has 10 less horse than the 92-93)?

ANY and ALL info would be helpful... I plan on buying one sometime in the next 6months-1year and I want to know as much as I can.

My eventual plan is to go turbocharged, but I need to learn alot more about what to buy, before I take that into real consideration...

P.S. I want to buy this car from some older person, someone who was unlikely to hotrod it, or cut corners, or mod things wrong... basically a stock car. So far, it looks like I want a 94-96 vtec with power options and sunroof/moonroof with a black or silver stock paint job... but this is why im asking all the questions now.
Heres a pic of a color I like.. no clue if its stock.

Thanks in advance for all your responses.

The only draw back of the SI is that it's non-vtec

Yeah you can do a "frankenstein" on the H22 head/H23 block, but it's cheaper to just swap in an H22

My advice would be to find a 92-95 lude and swap in a H22A, that way you'll know the engine has less miles then if you bought a 93+ Vtec.

You should be able to find one for under 4k, I bought my 92 for $700 and after I changed the engine, I haven't had a problem with it since (over 2 years).

Theres was only one variation of the H23 and all Si's are rated the same

If you're lucky you might find a 4ws lude, aren't to many 4th gens. with 4ws, but expect to pay a little more if you find one.

And if you plan on turboing it, stick with the H23

Yes! Get a 4th gen 4ws and swap in an H22! You'll love it!

Although, good luck finding one in good shape...

good questions... its hard to find a prelude in good condition.. driven by an older person. I was lucky to find one, but it was an SI. It's fine for me, I've put a lot of money into maintenance, but I love it. I am going the turbo route, so the h23 is better for that with lower compression from the factory. If you plan to go turbo, either car would be fine. With a correctly built motor any of the prelude motors would be great. If you plan on going turbo on STOCK internals, I would look for a prelude S. The low compression makes it the most convenient, there are threads all over the place proving its potential.
The VTEC's are rare, and you might get one in good shape, but its mileage will most likely be high. If I were you I'd get an SI and swap in the h22 motor if you want to go that route. The F22 is terrible stock, but has great boost potential, so dont forget about it.
Don't forget, the only things that set the VTEC and SI apart are leather interior, gearing, motor, and front brakes. I believe thats about it. If you have any questions just ask,
mike.
