B20 cam
I have the B20a in my Prelude and found that Gude Performance has a head/cam combo kit for the B20a3. Has anyone dealt with them? If so how was the service? Im just toying with the Prelude seeing as I am getting an S2000 as soon as I get the title back from the S4 and complete the sale =D
I AM planning to stick with the carbs and be old school about this. Why not, might as well lol
SPECIFICATIONS:
Intake LIFT - .434 DURATION - 242
Exhaust LIFT - .434 DURATION - 242

the B20 is a VERY solid engine FYI and has some great features like the fact it is a closed deck. Go to www.preludepower.com for some good B20 write ups.. run a search or go to FAQ you will find great info.... from NA to 25lb of boost...
there is a group buy going on for H22 mounts as well.

I think he was referring to the B20A specifically. Its a good engine, very reliable and fairly torquey as well. I think that a larger pair of carbs and a free flowing cam/head would do wonders for it. Gude has a cam for the B20A running about $300 and a head/cam port and polish combo going for a little over a grand.
Sorry dude, the B20A is a hunk of crap. They have a really nasty habit of excessive ring wear, mosty due to the horrible loading issues with a 1.51 (1.49 in the B21) R/S ratio.
Any engine can be made to perform (the Mazda F2 comes to mind,) but some should just be left alone.

No the ring issue comes from that composite material they made the cylinder walls out of. They may be a hunk of crap to the newer engines in terms of power etc but to be honest Im perfectly fine with what its got. Im not about to go ripping this engine out at 98,000 miles to go thru the hell of dropping a B series or H22 in it. And to be honest the Si engine only makes 30 more hp than this carb version so why bother. Especially when its so hard to come by a set of mounts for a B series.
WHich brings me back to the reason I posted this. Im KEEPING the B20a thats in it. I just want to put a cam on it (which IS available) and port and polish it a bit. I dont need all out performance. Thats what the Cobra is for.
A hunk of crap as u refer to is all in retrospect opinionation. I could say that your rotary is a hunk of crap in comparison to the hand built 32V 4.6 in my Cobra but thats just an opinion like your statement. So if all youre going to say is that this B20A is a hunk of crap then why post? It has nothing to do with the issue Im addressing...

The B20A is a waste of time and money... it has no aftermarket for a reason. Where my Mazda comes in to play, I have no idea. I don't care how well built your Ford engine is, it has no impact on your B20A.
