Default turbo h22 question

im thinking of boosting my h22. not a monster turbo or anything, im looking for a small turbo that spools quickly. i want to make power before vtec. has anyone done this? instead of it making 190hp @6700rpm i want it to start at around 3krpm and hold strong until redline. any idea on how hard that would be? im scared that the fuel maping will be a nightmare

im going to maybe do cams.. im not looking for much MORE power, i just want a smoother powerband. and im trying to do it cheap so im going to try and find a working turbo off some old peice of shit (like an old subaru) and build an adaptor plate and bend all the pipe and shit myself. its probably going to be a pain in the ass, but i have time and a pipe bender. and i dont plan on running much boost. like 3-4psi

First, boosting the H22 is give or go with the reliability. A small quick spooling turbo won't pull to redline, it will peak much earlier. I would almost think you would get more out of doing some NA work but im not sure.

You could always get a vtec controller and have the switchover set at 3000 rpm. Problem solved.

I was thinking of just running the turbonetics kit. The only problem I have is that I can't find engine management that will allow me to use my ATTS. I'm only looking for about 250whp.

Oh yeah, what compression should if I get new pistons?

If you go over 300hp the atts is rendered useless. Also if you turbo w/o doing internal mods you're just looking for trouble. base model, 5sp. is always a smart way to go when you are considering heavy mods.

Thanks, I would never boost w/o doing internals. That's why I asked about the correct compression for new pistons prefferably stock bore. And that's why I'm only looking for 250-270whp so my ATTS will NOT be rendered useless. Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the SH. And I still need to know if there is any engine management that will allow ATTS operation as stated above.

Thanks again

No...He wouldn't need to switch it soo low if he wasnt making power there... That's be hard with what he wants really...

That is with any engine that wasn't built for Turbo / or wasn't built right

Lastly, the H22 should be able to handle 8-10 PSI daily, my buddy is running a custom setup by Full Race and he is running 11 psi daily. Grant you that he has had it tuned...You said you're doing this cheap, well don't... If you can find the parts cheap then get them, but don't half ass a setup just to save a couple of hundred dollars and risk thousands in the end...
