Default 00 SH oil change

Hey...about to do my new cars first oil change since I bought it. Now the oil cap suggests 5w-30 and it only has 48,XXX miles. I am also going to switch to Mobil One synthetic (don't know what is in there now, reg or synth.). Should I stay with the 5w or move up to 10w? I live in san diego...so it doesn't get too cold.

I looked around on the forums and no clear answer was given.

5w-30 will be fine, if honda specs the start up thickness to be 5weight. Then i'd imagine you'd want to stick with that. Buy some motor flush and flush out the motor before you add synthetic just to get all the gunk from the previous owner.

if you are going to flush it, you may want to consider taking off the oil pain too and cleaning it.

no, a few bolts and pan comes off, if it's not leaking just re-use the rubber gasket.

I'm interested in this flush idea. Discuss.
