there very easy just make sure you get a filter the same diameter as pipe make sure you get the rubber coupler to go from the tube to the throttle body and the vacuum hose to go from the tube to the corner of the valve cover and the apropriate hose clamps as well

my ebay short ram, which i chose over a cold air after an entire threads worth of debate, uses a 3" k&n universal cone filter. i just have yet to replace the filter.

the sri/cai argument boiled down to the fact that yes, colder air is better, but by a marginal amount, and it may require modification to fit.
an sri is a simpler install, basically just a shorter tube, that will give close to the same gains and will minimize the risk of the intake sucking up water into the engine because it doesnt extend all the way down to the underbody where the water would be when its raining.

i figured sri, but those are the pros and cons.

The bottom line is that you get what you pay for...in other words, if u get get an intake for a cheap price, your gonna get a cheap intake. I got tha AEM V2 intake on my JDM H22A and to me its tha best CAI on tha market. Worth every penny (Dual Chambered) Injen CAI are probably tha next best thing but be careful with thoze chepo Ebay intakes....

im really appreciating all the replies fellas. Im gonna go the ebay rout with k&n filter, but aside from the filters, how is an AEM intake tube better then an ebay tube? arent they all aluminum? whats the differences between the two?

There isn't a difference, it's an aluminum pipe. The only difference would be the dual chambered V2 from AEM.....which is a bunch of hype IMO. The only difference could be the name brands fitting a little better, but thats not really an issue if you buy from a decent ebay vendor.

The only difference is smog legality. Companies have to pay a lot of money to have their products tested and certified by CARB, so most of the money you pay for product pays for that.

If you have smog regulations in your area, it would probably be a good idea to keep your stock airbox around just in case.
