Valve Cover Help
Hey all, I'm repainting my factory valve cover tonight and was just wondering if anyone knows a fast way to remove what's left of the black factory coating that Honda puts on them. I tried power washing it, but that only worked a little. Any help would be appreciated

Re: Valve Cover Help
brake fluid. Find a shallow pan, buy a big jug of cheapo brake fluid, and soak the valve cover overnite. Then just scrape it clean with a scrub brush, or whatever you prefer to use.
Wash it VERY VERY WELL once you get it clean of the original paint, as brake fluid will eat paint like nothing else you ever saw before.

If you have very little left you could use gasket remover. That stuff is bad a$$. Once again wash very well it will break down your oil if it gets inside your engine. I painted mine 2 years ago and it is still looking good.

variable speed drill and wire brush attachment. steel if you want a lil brushed steel look, and brass if you want that rough factory look to the cover. 5 minutes and you're done. that brake fluid works well too...heh.
