Default Engine Problem? No Compression #4

I Have A 98 Prelude Sh, I Having Engine Problem With It Stalling. The Problem Is That My Engine Stalls Right After It Stops. If You Hold On The Gas Pedal The Engine Wont Shut Off. I Had Problem Where My Engine Over Heated A 2 Time But Since I Replaced The Thermostat It Didnt Overheated Again. Had A Misfire On #3,#4. I Checked My Spark Plug And Had Dark Fuel Smell . Which Is A Rich Burning. My Car Blows Little Bit Of White Smoke Out Of The Exhaust. I Replaced The Dist. Cap, Rotor, Spark Plug And Wires, Injectors, Fuel Filter. I Cleaned My Egr But I Couldnt Really Get The Inside Carbon Build On The Intake Manifold But Good Enough. Still My Engine Stalls. I Took The Car To The Honda Dealer To Get The Recall On The Ignition Fixed Because I Thought That Was The Problem And Found Out That My #4 Cylinder Had No Compression And Had Low Compression On The Other 3 Cylinders. The Mechanic Couldnt Tell Me If Its My Valve Or Piston. I Dont Think Its My Piston Rings Because Mines Blow White Smoke Not Black Or Blue Smoke. Could It Be My Head Gasket? Now My Car Threw A Code And Its Kind Of Weird Because The Engine Check Just Stay Lite. I Dont Really Know What To Do At This Point. Any Help Is Appreciatied.

I'd say blown headgasket. I belive that would be the reason for the white smoke. Your car overheated twice so it wouldn't be a mystery why it blew. Maybe I'm wrong...... :dunno:

what are your actual compression numbers? How much oil do you burn? white smoke means you're burning coolant (head gasket), blue smoke means oil (time for new rings/pistons and possibly sleeves) its sometimes hard to tell white from blue

get a leakdown test. Theres a good chance your ring/ringlands may be shot, my car had the same problem when my cylinder 2 was really scored and i needed new ringlands (car would stall out often at red lights). Check your oil, if it smells at all like gasoline then i'm probably right about the bottom end problems. Your oil and coolant will be milky if its a head gasket problem.

In the meantime you can try raising the idle so you dont stall out at lights.

i think its head gasket for sure
no comp on #4 and smoke = compression+water jacket leak
misfire on #3 and #4 prob means #3 has a waterjacket leak also.
check ur oil for milk and also check ur coolant for foaming.

oh yea dont drive it, ur oil is probably contaminated, meaning your crankcase is contaminated and ull score your bearings and maybe even spin one if u drive it with bad oil.

this shouldn't be to hard to do, i could change my h22 headgasket start to finish with a handful of tools in my driveway in about 2 hours id say, havent had to yet in 91k miles ive put on it but i have had to pull the motor about 8 times for tranny/clutch problems and change thru 3 trannys.

It is kinda hard on the H22 though cause you have to pull the vavle cover off, then the cam journals 1/4 of a turn at a time in sequence to prevent the cam from warping then you have to do 8 head bolts 1/4 of a turn in sequence but if you know what your doing its not too hard, the most important thing to have is a manual.

all engines have a sequence for loosening head bolts and all DOHC VTEC (actually all honda motors) have a sequence for loosening and tightening cam journal caps. This is the least of your worries, u may have warped the head or the deck of the block by continuing to drive it.
