Default Vibration

I was doing some heavy braking coming down from about 95 mph and the car started shaking something awful. There is no vibration when I brake at lower speeds. I checked the runout on the discs a few months ago and they were all well within .001. Wheels were balanced yesterday. Anyone have any suggestions?

Maybe the rotors need replacement..Does it pull to one side ?? Vibration could also be because of wheel balance, but you ruled that out ..Check for rotor wear..

Well, if you are going to do that kind of heavy braking alot, then yes you need to replace your rotors (just get the OEM Honda rotors, you don't need to spend extra cash).

But, as you noted, you don't feel that vibration when braking at slower, normal speeds. So the rotors probably aren't in dire need of replacement, and you can probably get by with what you have for a good while if you don't do heavy braking. However, at those high speeds, even the slightest uneven wear on the disc is going to be amplified when it's rotating at that kind of speed.

Ur rotors are probably warped and they need to be resurfaced. the same thing happen to me in my 92 si. i was doing about 110-115mph and was braking. Ur rotors cant haddle the heat so so they started to warp. have the rotors resurfaced before replacing

I pulled the wheels and checked the runout. Left front was < .002, all the others were .001 or less. They're well within limits, but they need to be resurfaced. I've had nothing but trouble with those Yokohamas since I put them on in March, they're suspect. I'm thinking of Nitto Neo Gens. Anybody have any have any experience with them?

IMO, the you are better off getting the rotors replaced (it is cost-effective, as you can get a set of rotors ($50/-) for the resurfacing labor). Thats what I did over the weekend. Just my $.02/-

I don't know how the Nitto Neo Gens are but I did have a set of Nitto 450s on my car. Very uneven wear on the tires and they are very loud. I am getting a set of Cooper Zeon 2XS tires today.
