V-AFC or exhaust?
I'll be coming across some money soon and am debating between getting an Apex V-AFC, or an Apex N1 cat-back. Which should I get first? Why? I have heard horror stories about H22A preludes equipped with a V-AFC, how bad could it actually be?
well... if you move the vtec from what the honda engineers have placed at a lil over 5000rpm... your car will not build enough oil pressure to SAFELY engage vtec... do you know what that does? it can actually will (sounds F&F) fry your piston rings.... blow your headgasket.. etc.... it's a very acurate useful tool for everything else.. and looks really nice...
o and the exhaust choice is VERY sweet...

don't waste your money on a v-afc without ATLEAST the basic mods...judging by what you want to buy, it sounds like you'll have around $400...i would get an aem intake, aem pullies, and materials from radio shack needed to do a obd2 workaround(if you have 96+ prelude's.) that'll cost you alittle over 400 and the installation of intake, pulley's and obd2 workaround is a sinch...i'd say you'll gain 5-10 hp up top, nothing lost on the bottem end and better throttle response...take my advice man, the two mods you listed are a waste of money for a stock prelude...i don't have a prelude but i know a ****load about it cause two of my friends have a prelude and i've been working on their cars for a long time...

for more information about the obd2 workaround, go to preludeonline.com and use the search button and type in
"obd2 workaround" and you'll find more than enough information...if you already have the aem intake than save money for a decent suspension...this will help your handling and will help a bit on throttle response...if you do not want suspension then save for either headers or you can buy a muffler and have your exhaust piping customly made later on...most people buy exhaust right away without even knowing how much mods they are gonna do...if your gonna go forced induction then buy bigger exhaust piping around 2.5 to 3.0....if your just gonna have basic mods then i'd go with 2.25 exhaust piping...if your gonna go all out NA then i would get 2.5...it all depends on what mods your planning to do...so don't just go buy greddy evo exhaust the piping is 2.5 on those and without enough mods, i'd say you lose a little bit of power...
