ok guys, I did it. I changed the oil! It was awesome!
Only one thing went wrong.
The oil cap (where you pour in the oil) has a small rubber ring that goes with it. It's a seal. We lost that. The cap still fits on tight. I'm wondering, should I replaced said seal? I mean, it dosn't do much. DIfferent people say different things, but the feedback I've gotten is: "Look and see if it leaks, then replace it".

it might have something to do with oil pressure, having the rubber seal there. maybe not, but IMO you might as well replace (probably under $2 max). there's not that chance of it being a problem if you fix it right.

UPDATE
Ok so I managed to make a seal myself, it works rather well. I went to ace and bought a neoprene washer and cut it to the right size. But one thing went very wrong.
After I changed my oil, I put the extra oil (1 quart) in my trunk. I tightend the cap well, beacuse I was afraid of it spilling. I kept the oil there because I wanted to check my levels at my next gas station and see if I needed to add some.
Well, the oil spilled. I'm not sure how, but I think the car was baking in the sun and the pressure pushed the cap off. Or somthing. Sheesh.
I was then left with a puddle of oil in my trunk, all absorbed into the carpet. I realizes this at least 24 hours after it happend. I could smell it for a while, but didn't think that oil was leaking in my car. Well, this sucks.
I realized the oil everywhere when I popped my trunk at Kmart when getting groceries earlier today. I got about 200 napkins from the K cafe and cleaned it out. That took at least 35 mins of scraping at the cloth with paper nakins. I had to clean of what was in the trunk too.
The carpet is still soaked with oil, it's just not gobbed all over it anymore. I think I'll take it to a self-carwash and use the high pressure soap water to clean it (of course, take it out of the car first). Any suggestions?
I tryed leaving my trunk open to air it out today, but the light always stays on. I don't want a dead battery in the morning.

Ickie....I would pull what carpet I have out of the trunk and clean it wish dish soap and then get some formula 66 type degeeser from a parts store and a spray bottle with some water in it and see what you can do with the oil in the trunk. Congrats on the whole oil change thing, though!
