Prelude or GSR???
I am new to the forum and have some questions hopefully someone can answer. I am going to be buying a new car very soon, but can't decide between a '97-'99 GSR and '97-'99 Prelude. From what I have read these two cars are pretty even performance wise. The Prelude weighs more, but has more HP and Torque. The thing that I don't understand is I have read 0-60 times for the Prelude from 7.2-7.7, Motor Trend had 7.2, but Road and Track had 7.7 and for the GSR 7.1-7.2. Does anyone have an accurate time for a stock 5spd Prelude and GSR. I would prefer the Prelude because I own a 3rd Gen now and love it, plus I don't see very many around where I live, but if the GSR is faster I would rather go with that. If the Prelude 0-60 time is 7.7 and the GSR 7.1 how can they have pretty equal 1/4 mile times (from what I have read) shouldn't the GSR have a better time? Please help me decide what I should buy. Thanks for any Help!!!
Thanks guys, I am pretty sure I am going for the Lude, main reason is I have only seen one around where I live and work (I drive about 50 miles to work each day) in 3+ months and I have seen over 100 Integra's not all GSR's but still...
I read an old Motortrend article once on a 96' Prelude VTEC that ran a 14.6 bone stock in the 1/4. The article was dug up to shut the owner of a Integra Type-R up because he said the Type-R was the fastest factory Honda put out in the states. I actually passed up a great deal on a low mileage RED 96' VTEC lude for $6,800.00 a year ago and have been kicking myself ever since. That I know of, only the S2000 and the new 6 speed accord have beaten that record.
The type R is faster than any of the prelude VTECs. Main reason is because it has about the same power (depending of the H22's year of production) and weighs more than 300 pounds less. This is because, not only is the ITRs engine well tuned from the factory but it is also stripped for weight (Stripped down GS-R) for performance. No Sunroof or even sound deadening materials. The integra type R even handles better than the prelude. Check this out. Right click and save as. Than zoom in on this article. Peace
This article shows that the ITR was built for its purpose while the prelude was built for its own seperate purpose. The ITR isn't any fun on congested street traffic. To have real fun in the ITR you need long roads, the lude is fun and comfortable all around. The ITR is faster, but it was made faster for a lack of luxuries. The lude is quick but ITR is alot quicker.

... go for the lude
